BRITISH LIBRARY: Knepp Nightingales

One sunny spring evening, I wandered out from my studio. I froze. What was that incredible sound. It was my first nightingale. And I’ve been obsessed ever since. Each spring, Knepp kindly gives me permission to take my audio kit into the scrubland to record the increasing numbers of nightingales, facing cataclysmic declines elsewhere. The British Library want to preserve these soundscapes of hope for their environmental and nature sounds collection. This week I transferred them the first tranche of recordings from across the last 4 or so years. Hear some of these recordings on Soundcloud and instagram.
