The final clay Cracker Packers

It’s 5.30am in the morning and Sandra, my model, falls asleep standing up. Okay, it’s time to stop. No one else will appreciate the minor tweaks I am making. Guess I’m a bit of a perfectionist. Nigel the photographer is due at 9am and the foundry at 10.30am. We bed down in the studio for a couple of hours of sleep.

Phew. A real labour of love. With incredibly dedicated and generous input from my models – Sandra, Jenni and Rosie. Hats off to you women. Couldn’t have done it without you. Here are some of the final photos.

Why is there only one photo of me with the final clay sculptures? It was agreed that I wasn’t fit to be photographed! I slept well that night.

You and the Cracker Packers have told a wonderful story, the depth, the characters and style of an era. Can’t wait to see the bronzes – many congratulations on your outstanding work and that of the models too!
